Prenatal Care for Patients with High-Risk Pregnancies

Prenatal care for patients with high-risk pregnancies is provided at the Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Clinic located at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Care Center, 2 Dudley Street, 5th Floor, Providence. For women whose pregnancies require closer monitoring, the high-risk Antenatal Care Unit at Women & Infants is designed to provide comprehensive inpatient care, in an effort to achieve the best possible outcome for mother and baby.

The MFM Clinic provides high quality, comprehensive obstetrical outpatient care for women who are transferred from their primary obstetrical provider because of a maternal, fetal or obstetric complication.

The clinical staff includes specialty-trained physicians, registered nurses, nutritionists and social workers, all focused on caring for the patient and her unborn baby.

Prenatal Testing

Sometimes a woman's medical problems or family history can have an effect on her unborn baby. Other times, unborn fetuses can have problems of their own. The physicians and staff at the Prenatal Diagnosis Center (PDC) have the special expertise necessary to make sure both you and your baby get the best possible care during your pregnancy. The PDC provides specialized services and testing, comprehensive screening, fetal assessment and genetic counseling to help you and your physician better understand your pregnancy. Tests includes level II ultrasounds, amniocentesis, integrated screening test and chorionic villus sampling (CVS).
