As Southeastern New England’s center for excellence in obstetrics, Women & Infants Hospital offers a comprehensive range of maternity services designed to provide comfort, privacy and complete family-centered care for expectant parents. Obstetric services are provided through your own obstetrician or midwife or at our Obstetrics and Gynecology Care Center.
The Obstetrics and Gynecology Care Center (OGCC) provides a full array of obstetric care for pregnant patients, including tests to check the health of the unborn baby, nutrition, and social services. Our staff includes board certified physicians, residents, nurse practitioners, nutritionists, registered nurses and social workers who work as a team to provide you with the best possible care. Many are fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and French, and we can arrange for other interpreter services, including sign language, if you are more comfortable speaking in your native language.

We have a policy for missed appointments at all Women & Infants physician practices. If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please give us at least 24 hours' notice.
Dr. Renee Eger is the Medical Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Care Center (OGCC). A board certified obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Eger received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training at Women & Infants Hospital. Prior to becoming the medical director at the OGCC Dr. Eger was the managing partner of ObGyn Associates in Providence. She is a Menopause Society Certified Provider and runs the Menopause Program at Women & Infants Hospital.
Dr. Rebecca Allen is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Medical Science, Section of Medical Education, at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in complex family planning. Dr. Allen has been an attending physician in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island since 2007. She is the Director of the Ryan Residency Training Program in family planning for the OBGYN residency at Brown and of Family Planning services for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Care Center at Women and Infants Hospital. Dr. Allen specializes in contraception and abortion care as well as cervical dysplasia and colposcopy.
Dr. Ben Brown is the Mimi Pichey Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in complex family planning. Dr. Brown is an attending physician in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island.
Dr. Brown’s clinical interests include high-acuity obstetrics, complex abortion and contraception care, and management of early pregnancy complications and ectopic gestation. He enjoys mentoring medical students and residents, and has expertise in statistics and clinical medical ethics. His research focuses on family planning policy analysis using quantitative methods and an ethics lens. Dr. Brown speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Dr. Rebecca Crichton is a board-certified ob/gyn and an assistant professor at Brown’s Alpert Medical School. She received her medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine and did her OBGYN training at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Since coming to Women and Infants’ Hospital in 2001, she has worked at the Providence Community Health Centers, in private practice and at the OBGYN Care Center. At the OBGYN Care Center, she specializes in vulvovaginal health running the Vulvar Care Center at Women and Infants’ Hospital.
Dr. Janet Lefkowitz (she/her/hers) is an OBGYN serving as an Assistant Professor, Clinical Educator, physician at Brown University’s Warren Alpert School of Medicine and Women and Infants Hospital in Providence Rhode Island. Dr. Lefkowitz enjoys working with medical students and residents, especially in the areas of family planning and values clarification surrounding abortion care. She strives to promote access to essential health care for those people who seek care.
Dr. Christine Brousseau is an academic specialist in general obstetrics and gynecology. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed her OBGYN residency at the same institution. She received a master’s degree in public health from Brown University. Dr. Brousseau is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Safiyah Hosein, MD is a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist who offers a broad spectrum of care, including obstetrics, family planning and gynecology. She completed medical school at University of Massachusetts and her residency at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. She has a specific interest in contraception, early pregnancy loss and full spectrum abortion and obstetrics care. She also offers management for routine preventative care, abnormal uterine bleeding, ovarian pathology and fibroids. She performs a full scope of operative gynecology including hysteroscopy, ablation, myomectomy and hysterectomy. Her main goal is to always work with patients to help them achieve their optimal health goals.
Monique Morales is a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Community Health from Brown University in 2011, and both her RN and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from the Yale School of Nursing. She was a participant in the National Heatlh Service Corp Scholarship Program and worked at an FQHC in Baltimore before returning to Women and Infants in 2022. Monique is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) and National Certification Corporation (NCC).
Meghan Henry is a Certified Nurse Midwife. She received her undergraduate degree from Providence College. Meghan attended the Graduate Entry Prespecialty in Nursing (GEPN) program at the Yale School of Nursing, where she specialized in Midwifery and Women's Health and graduated with her Masters of Science in Nursing in 2016. She has since worked in a variety of settings, offering prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, gynecologic, and family planning services. She is committed to providing trauma-informed, patient-centered care. She is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
Kate Zaluski MD, FACOG, MSCP completed medical school at Creighton University School of Medicine and her OBGYN residency at St. Francis Hospital in Harford, CT. She is a board certified OBGYN who also is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner. Her interests include abnormal uterine bleeding, cervical dysplasia, vulvovaginal health, and menopause care.
Lauren Abern, MD is joining the Division of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Abern is an Assistant Professor of Ob/Gyn, Clinician Educator and completed her medical degree at the University of Miami and residency at Abington Memorial Hospital, and is board certified in obstetrics, gynecology, and complex family planning. She specializes in LGBTQIA+ health care including gender affirming hormone therapy for transgender and nonbinary individuals. Her research interests include family planning, cancer screening, reproductive advocacy, and breast/chestfeeding for LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Elizabeth Glatfelter is a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. She received a BA in Sociology from the University of Vermont, an MA in International Affairs from The New School, and graduated with an MSN in Midwifery from Yale University in 2020. Her clinical interests include pregnancy and birth, reproductive health, family planning, and global health. Prior to becoming a midwife, she worked at Doctors Without Borders (MSF) both in New York City and abroad in South Sudan. Elizabeth is certified by AMCB and NCC.
Jenny is a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her Master's Degree in Nursing from Boston College where she specialized in Women's Health. Jenny is passionate about patient centered care and has experience providing a variety of both obstetrics and gynecology care including sexual and reproductive healthcare, family planning, prenatal, and postpartum care. She is certified by the National Certification Corporation (NCC).
Tanya is a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in women’s/gender-related health. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Suffolk University and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Boston College. She is certified by the NCC. Her clinical interests include contraception, pelvic health, trauma-informed/resilience-focused care, reproductive justice, and prenatal care.
We provide routine prenatal care including all prenatal visits, labwork, screening tests, ultrasound, fetal monitoring, and patient education during pregnancy and through postpartum.
Family Planning services include contraception counseling and procedures including pills, patches, rings, injections, implants, and IUDs, permanent contraception (sterilization), management of miscarriages, medication abortion, management of unplanned and undesired pregnancies including abortion services
Abnormal pap smear management and treatment, including colposcopy exams and surgical treatments
Menopause treatment of women in midlife and beyond including treatment of hot flashes, night sweats, and vulvar and vaginal atrophy with hormonal and nonhormonal options, cardiac risk assessment, bone health assessment. Management of age-appropriate screening testing including mammograms, bone densitometry, and colonoscopy.
Sexually transmitted infections screening and treatment
Expert evaluation and treatment of vulvar conditions such as vulvar irritations, chronic and/or recurrent vaginitis and vulvitis, lichen sclerosus and lichen simplex chronicus
