Emergency Care

When every second counts.

The Women & Infants Hospital Emergency Department provides 24-hour care for those needing urgent and immediate medical or surgical care. Our Emergency Department is not only an obstetric triage unit and point of entry for our patients, but our physicians and nurses have OBGYN and emergency medical training to treat a broader range of medical and surgical issues.

When arriving at the Emergency Department, you will be seen as soon as possible and will be cared for by a team of Board Certified and Board Eligible Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Certified Nurse Midwives, Emergency Medicine physicians, and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners, who can provide a unique level of acute care for these services unlike in a traditional emergency setting.

The Medical/Surgical Care Unit allows doctors in our Emergency Department to admit patients with a range of medical issues. This diversifies the care we provide at Women & Infants Hospital and allows us to reach more community members.
