Women & Infants Hospital Ranks Third Nationally in Money’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care 2025 List Out of 75 Total Entries

Written by Women & Infants Hospital | January 23, 2025

(Providence, RI) -- Women & Infants Hospital announced it has earned recognition as one of Money’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care 2025 from among 75 hospitals for its excellence in maternity care. Women & Infants Hospital received an A rating from Money and placed third in the nation.

Hospitals that made the list are considered by Money to be well-equipped to handle a variety of situations and complications, from low-risk births to complex maternal, fetal, and newborn procedures.

According to Money, its list of best hospitals for maternity care offers safe, effective treatment, led by experienced OB/GYN and perinatal physicians and specialists with key indicators of quality in its analysis being a dedication to mothers and babies before, during, and after birth as well as patient satisfaction, safety records, and noteworthy maternity accreditations.

In addition, Money graded each facility on how transparent its prices are. To do this, they compared hospitals’ publicly listed prices with the actual payments they received from patients and their insurers. Money’s price transparency grade is unweighted and does not affect the order in which the hospital ranks, which is solely based on quality of care.

To compile its new list, Money’s core data partner for the project was Definitive Healthcare. They also relied on publicly available data from CMS and The Joint Commission. And, the University of Southern California’s Chan department provided data on the nation’s neonatal intensive care units (NICUs).

“I am thrilled Women & Infants Hospital has been recognized by Money for its outstanding maternity care while prioritizing the health, well-being, and safety of our delivering mothers and babies. At Women & Infants Hospital, where more than 80% of babies in Rhode Island are born each year, we pride ourselves on offering enhanced birthing options while providing an equitable, state-of-the-art environment that can accommodate extended family, birth partners, and doulas,” said Shannon Sullivan, president and COO, Women & Infants Hospital.
