On Saturday, October 15, approximately 350 guests joined together for “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” an event that raised more than $476,000 for Women & Infants Hospital’s Labor, Delivery and Recovery (LDR). The event was held at Café Nuovo in Providence and featured a fabulous evening of Motown musical entertainment performed by the Shadows of the 60s musical group and celebrity DJ J.J. Wright.
“We are honored to have the support of so many generous sponsors and donors who we thank for their commitment to Women & Infants and to the women and newborns of our community,” said Women & Infants President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Marcantano in his remarks. “The dedication of our event sponsors is essential in order for Women & Infants to continue its legacy of care and innovation.”
The evening’s contributors included Platinum Sponsor CVS Health; Solid Gold Sponsors Cox Business, Women & Infants departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics, and Grammy Sponsors NOW Delivery, Rhode Island Medical Imaging, Southern New England Healthcare for Women, Bernie and Heidi Buonanno, Malcolm G. Chace Jr., Cynthia B. Patterson, Jack and Judith Remondi, Joan and Paul Sorensen, and the Women & Infants Medical Staff Association.
Close to 9,000 babies are born at Women & Infants Hospital, most in one of 19 private rooms or one of three dedicated Cesarean birth rooms. A team of nurses, midwives, physicians and other caregivers provides a wide range of services, ranging from a home-like experience in the Alternative Birthing Center to intensive monitoring by specialists for high-risk pregnancy and delivery.
Maureen G. Phipps, MD, MPH, chair and Chace-Joukowsky Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and assistant dean for Teaching and Research in Women’s Health at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, professor of epidemiology at the Brown University School of Public Health, and chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Women & Infants Hospital and Care New England Health System, thanked guests for supporting the program’s expansion and stated, “We are raising funds that will ensure the very best environment for the women and families who choose to deliver their babies at Women & Infants Hospital. Our plan is to transform our current LDR into a state-of-the-art setting, a place where there is comfort and caring at all times, and the very best technology and talent are always available.”
