Release Date: 04/14/2014Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Department of Health, and the Rhode Island Hearing Assessment Program (RIHAP) will present their 20th annual seminar, entitled “Creating Positive Environments for Children with Hearing Loss.” The all-day conference will be held on Friday, May 9th from 8 am to 4:30 pm at the Crowne Plaza, Warwick, RI.
An outstanding faculty of nationally renowned professionals who specialize in childhood hearing loss will be lecturing on a variety of topics.
Featured speakers at the event include Karen Anderson, PhD, of Supporting Success for Children with Hearing Loss, North Plymouth, MN; Brian Duff, MD, of Rhode Island Hospital; Alison Grimes, AuD, of the University of California at Los Angeles; Nancy Maguire Heath, MAEd of the Rhode Island School for the Deaf; Kym Meyer, MS, CCC-A, of The Learning Center for the Deaf, Framingham, MA; and Laura Ann Petitto, PhD, of Gallaudet University, Washington, DC.
The target audience for this event includes parents, educators, early childhood specialists, early interventionists, health care providers, audiologists, speech language pathologists, deaf and hard of hearing service providers, and students studying communication disorders.
In conjunction with the conference, the Rhode Island Hearing Assessment Program is also sponsoring the 10th Annual Art Competition in which all school-aged children in Rhode Island with a permanent hearing loss are invited to participate. The artwork will be on display at the conference.
