One Enchanted Evening Raises More Than $500,000

Release Date: 10/18/2018

On Saturday, October 13, more than 330 guests joined together for “One Enchanted Evening,” an event that raised more than $507,000 for Women & Infants Hospital’s Birth Center. The event was held at Café Nuovo in Providence.

Co-chairs of the event were Anne Marie and Steve Johnson and Leslie and Mike Sweeney.

“There are so many great people working to support this wonderful hospital. That was something that drew me here, and it’s been amazing to see in action,” said Rick Majzun, president and chief operating officer at Women & Infants Hospital, a Care New England hospital. Majzun began working at Women & Infants in July. “You all know this hospital is one of the crown jewels for the State of Rhode Island, but I know it as a national treasure, as the premier place in the country for women and infants care. The reason I know that is because seven years ago, I was asked to create a similar program in St. Louis, so we studied the best places in the country. During this process, I learned about Women & Infants. The work we do in the hospitals, in our research labs, in the community – it changes lives, not only in Rhode Island, not only in New England, but across the country.”

Majzun continued, “With this new Birth Center, we will continue to drive the modern standard of clinical care, we will change the field, and we will continue to serve as a national model. This is a critical investment for our hospital and, more importantly, for the women and children of our region.”

The evening’s contributors included Dream Sponsor CVS Health; Hope Sponsors Women & Infants Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Department of Pediatrics, Cox Business; Imagine Sponsors Malcolm G. Chace Jr., Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Women & Infants; Women & Infants Medical Staff Association, Cynthia B.
